France-based winger Kamaldeen Sulemana joins Black Stars in Cameroon

Rennes attacker Kamaldeen Sulemana has joined the Black Stars ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations which kicks off in Cameroon on Sunday.

Sulemana joined his teammates in Yaounde on Saturday night after missing the training camp in Doha.

According to reports, Sulemana was detained in France after Rennes and Senegal goalkeeper Alfred Gomis tested positive for coronavirus.

Sulemana is said to have come into close contact with Gomis so had to isolate himself, thereby being unable to team with the Black Stars in Qatar.

The Ghanaian was cleared to travel on Saturday, same as Gomis who tested negative and both have joined their respective countries ahead of the tournament.

Sulemana joins 25 other players who are already in camp in Cameroon with two others, Kudus Mohammed and Philemon Baffuor expected to join later.

The former Nordsjaelland FC winger, who has made 6 appearances for Ghana since his debut against Mali in October 2020, will wear the number 22 shirt during the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

He is expected to start when Ghana play their first match against Morocco on Monday.
