Group descends on ‘Gay Exporter’
An Accra-based anti-gay group known as Safety Empire has set its eyes on a certain Prince Nana Aggrey who is known for supporting gays.
Nana Aggrey is said to be a US-based Ghanaian who helps gays to leave Ghana, but members of Safety Empire, on hearing the news of his return to the country a few days ago, attacked his home at Mamobi in Accra.
The group, which met his absence, broke into his room and destroyed everything in site, including a 55-inch flatscreen TV.
Safety Empire, a vigilante group which operates in Zongo communities such as Nima, Mamobi, Madina and Fadama, all in Accra, is known for brutally attacking and sometimes lynching gays in the full glare of the public, in order to serve as a deterrent.
Indeed, other members of these communities including the families of suspected gays, are known for teaming up with the youth to carry out the attacks.
