A four-year-old girl has been left traumatized after she was defiled by a 50-year-old man at Adam Nana, a suburb of Kasoa, in the Awutu Senya East District in the Central Region.
The suspect, George, is said to have lured the little girl to come for Christmas gifts at his house and then defiled her.
He then warned her not to inform anyone about her ordeal.
An elder sister of the victim, Mary Amoah, who was bathing her after the incident, saw blood underneath her and raised an alarm.
Mary says the victim has been gripped by fear since the incident and had been shielding herself from adult males, including her father.
“I was bathing her and saw blood coming under her. So I asked her what had happened and reported it to my mother. We took her to the hospital, but we were told not to raise an alarm about it because we had no evidence.
“Before leaving for school on Friday, I saw that the police had come to arrest him, but on Saturday morning, he was released,” Mary disclosed.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family have expressed worry over why the suspect was released just a day after his arrest and is appealing to the Inspector General of Police to seek justice for the victim.
