Mobile telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana, has suspended the decision to review the cashout fee for Mobile Money.
The mobile network announced a decision that would have seen a 1% charge on transactions up to GH¢2,000 and a flat rate of GH¢20 for the above-mentioned transactions.
The review was to take effect from Saturday, July 1, 2023.
But in another circular to their customers on Monday, June 26, they announced that the planned review had been withdrawn.
“The planned review of the cashout fee for MoMo has been withdrawn. The current cashout fee of %1, capped at GH¢10 still remains and will be charged to your wallet.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused,” the statement said.
The decision to retract the fee adjustment comes as a relief to many Mobile Money users and business owners who were concerned about the potential impact of the flat fee on larger transactions.
The proposed fee adjustment had attracted significant attention and sparked concerns among MTN Mobile Money users.
