Nick Fisher: Body found in hunt for missing BAFTA winner

Police searching for writer and broadcaster Nick Fisher have found a body.

The 63-year-old BAFTA-winning TV scriptwriter went missing with his dog in Dorset on Tuesday afternoon.

TV presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall previously said Mr Fisher was a “dearest friend” and joined the calls for help in finding him.

Police said a body found on Thursday was believed to be Mr Fisher’s and there were no suspicious circumstances.

Previously police said Mr Fisher was last seen in Hooke near Bridport in a silver Nissan Navara truck with his brown and white springer spaniel dog.

Mr Fearnley-Whittingstall repeated a police appeal on social media and said Mr Fisher’s friends and family were desperate to find him.

“It’s so unlike Nick to do this and of course we are very worried for his safety,” he said.

Mr Fisher collaborated with the TV chef as a fishing expert on his River Cottage TV programmes and books based in west Dorset.

He has also written episodes of Holby City, Eastenders, Casualty and New Tricks.

Police said the body was found on Thursday morning in Dorchester following a search by officers and members of Dorset Search and Rescue.
