NPP primaries: Nhyiaeso election suspended over lawsuit

Source The Ghana Report

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has temporarily suspended its parliamentary primaries in the Nhyiaeso Constituency in the Ashanti Region.

This decision was made due to an interlocutory injunction filed by one of the aspirants, Kennedy Kwasi Kankam.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Asokore Mampong, Kennedy Kwasi Kankam, did not undergo vetting due to a party constitution breach.

The disgruntled aspirant has therefore, sought redress in court.

At a National Executive Committee meeting held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, the party disqualified a contestant in the Bimbilla constituency, resulting in Minister of Defence Dominic Nitiwul running unopposed.
