Prince Tagoe’s alleged fraud case with George Boateng adjourned to August 30

The Accra Circuit Court, presided over by Judge Samuel Acquah, has granted former Black Stars player Prince Tagoe additional time to settle a USD40,000 fraud case before August 30, 2023, as requested by the accused person.

Prince Tagoe stands accused of allegedly taking USD40,000 from Black Stars assistant coach George Antwi Boateng under the pretense of supplying him with a 4X4 Lexus vehicle.

The court has placed Tagoe on GH¢100,000 bail with three sureties, one of whom must be a civil servant. Additionally, the court ordered that one of the sureties must be justified with landed property.

During the court proceedings, Tagoe denied the offence but has taken steps towards resolving the matter. He has already paid GH¢129,000 out of the USD40,000, equivalent to GH¢265,200, which he allegedly obtained by false pretense.

To avoid a trial, the court has granted the accused person time to settle the remaining outstanding amount with the complainant, George Antwi Boateng, by August 30, 2023.

If both parties reach an agreement and settle the matter out of court, the case will be resolved without further legal proceedings.

However, should the parties fail to reach an agreement and resolve the matter by the given date, the court will proceed with the trial as scheduled.
