Rapper Edem granted GH¢50k bail for allegedly knocking and killing unknown woman
The Kaneshie District Court has granted a GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties to Ghanaian rapper Denning Edem Hotor, known in showbiz as Edem, for allegedly knocking down a woman on the George Walker Bush Highway in Accra on Saturday, December 9, 2023.
The unfortunate incident, according to the prosecution, occurred around 2 a.m.
Edem was a guest on a television programme at Abeka junction on Saturday night.
The ‘Nyedzilo’ hitmaker was reportedly driving a Honda Touring vehicle with registration number GX 3011-19 when the incident occurred.
According to court documents, the woman, who is yet to be identified, has passed away.
She sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the medical doctor on duty.
Edem was charged with two counts of careless and inconsiderate driving and negligently causing harm when he appeared before the court presided over by Nana Abena Asor Owusu Amenyo on Monday, December 11, 2023.
He is to re-appear before the court on February 15, 2024.
