Robbers who shot MoMo vendor at Kasoa remanded

The two robbery suspects who shot a Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor at Kasoa Big Man Town have been remanded in police custody.

The two were hauled before the Awutu Ofaakor District Court on Thursday, December 29.

They have been remanded for two weeks and expected to reappear before the court on January 12, 2023.

The suspects have been identified as Michael Otu, an Okada Rider and Asaa Faisal.

The court appearance follows the death of a third suspect, Godwin Okine on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, in custody.

Mr Okine, according to the Kasoa Divisional Police Command, took ill and died later.

Background

The suspects, armed with a pump-action gun reportedly concealed in a baby diaper sack, attacked and shot a mobile money merchant, at his business centre at Kasoa.

The suspects reportedly pursued the victim when he victim attempted to flee and shot him from behind and robbed him of an unspecified amount of money.

The injured victim is also receiving medical treatment and is in stable condition.
