“Temperament difference” is the reason for Kotoko’s scoring woes- Prosper Ogum

Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, believes the difference in temperament of his lads scoring goals during training sessions and in real games is the reason behind Kotoko’s low goal count.

He said this in a post-game interview after Kotoko drew goalless with Medeama SC at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa; this comes on the back of Kotoko’s controversial 1-0 win over FC Samartex to end a seven-game winless run.

Striker Steven Mukwala scored in the 22nd minute for Kotoko before Diawisie Taylor equalized in the 57th minute for Medeama with a converted penalty kick.

After witnessing his side miss chances in the draw, Dr. Ogum couldn’t help but agree that his side consistently fails to replicate the fine goal scoring form displayed during training sessions in real games.

“It’s been happening throughout the season. We create a lot of chances but then the conversion is the issue. Interestingly too we’ve been training on it, at training they score a lot of goals but then the tempo and temperament of training and games are different.”

“I think we still need to work on it and be sure that the few chances that come our way we will be able to convert. The game is about scoring goals and once you score, it gives you the confidence.”
