Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia hosts Mohammed Kudus and Blessing Shine Agbomadzi

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia extended a warm welcome to Ghanaian football stars Mohammed Kudus and Blessing Shine Agbomadzi at his residence on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, during the Eid festivities.

The gracious reception was organized in honor of their remarkable achievements at the recently concluded Ghana Football Awards gala night.

Among the esteemed guests in attendance were Kalmadeen Sulemana, a winger for the Black Stars, whose awe-inspiring goal against Liverpool had been nominated as a top contender for the prestigious Goal of the Year accolade. Accompanying him were several Board Members of the Ghana Football Awards.

Mohammed Kudus, known for his exceptional performances both for his club and the national team, was recognized as the Footballer of the Year—a well-deserved acknowledgement of his outstanding contributions throughout the season.

Similarly, Blessing Shine Agbomadzi, the talented striker for the Black Queens, was crowned Women’s Footballer of the Year at the same gala.

Her stellar displays for ASFAR of Morocco, where she triumphed in the Champions League and domestic competitions, enabled her to triumph over her formidable contenders and claim the prestigious award.

During the gathering, Vice President Dr. Bawumia congratulated Mohammed Kudus and Blessing Shine Agbomadzi on their remarkable achievements, urging them to persist in their pursuit of excellence.

“I welcomed to my residence, Black Stars players, Kudus Mohammed and Kamaldeen Sulemana, as well as Black Queens’ Blessing Shine Agbomadzi, as my guests during the Eid festivities.

“I took the opportunity to congratulate Mohammed Kudus and Blessing Shine Agbomadzi, who were recently crowned male and female Footballer of the Year at the Ghana Football Awards. Also present were some officials of the Awards.

“The inspiring journey of Kudus, Kamaldeen and Blessing, from obscurity on our local streets, to the top level of international football, indicates that with the right investment and approach at the grassroot level, many young, talented Ghanaian footballers will realise their full potentials.

“Good luck to Kudus, Kamaldeen, and Blessing all professional Ghanaian footballers ahead of the new football season.”
