WAC versus Hearts in Morocco to played behind closed doors – Reports

The reverse leg tie of the 2021/22 CAF Champions League preliminary stage game between Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) and Accra Hearts of Oak is set to be staged without football fans in the stadium.

This follows a report that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has ordered all organized CAF Inter-club competitions in Morocco to be played behind closed doors due to the novel spread of COVID-19 in the North African country.

Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) will host the Ghanaian champions, Hearts of Oak in the second leg tie of the competition at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca after the two teams met at the Accra Sports Stadium in Accra over the weekend.

According to the Continent’s football governing body, CAF, the hosts and the Moroccan FA are to ensure that the match to be honoured without their teeming supporters due to Coronavirus.

The Phobians made away with a slim margin victory in the first leg courtesy of a lone strike from Isaac Mensah in the first half of the game.

The Hearts of Oak team led by coach Samuel Boadu are expected to fly out to the North African nation for the upcoming fixture on Thursday via a chartered flight.

The second leg tie has been scheduled to kick off at 7:00 pm on Sunday and the winner of the two-legged fixture will advance to the group stages of the 2021/22 CAF Champions League.
